Hidden in the woods, there's a place where poor kids and war orphans can spend their holidays.
There is a road in the woods in Valganna (Varese), leading to a small village lost in the woods.
It was imagined in 1919, with the aim of welcoming children who became orphans after the war, those who were poor and malnourished.
Thanks to the TCI, Touring Club Italiano - a non-profit foundation with the purpose of enhancing and protecting Italy's environmental, artistic and cultural heritage -, and the help of some benefactors' donation, the small village opened in 1921.

The village remained a functioning summer and winter campus for children until 1986, when families began to be able to afford to vocation again and the need to send kids to campus was no longer a priority.
